Quarterly Financial Results Announced

IEI reported net sales of $3,041,968 for the quarter ending February 28, 2005, a 6% increase over the same period a year earlier. Net loss for the quarter was $176,618, or ($0.10) per basic share.

John Waldstein, President and CEO said, “We were pleased with our revenue growth quarter over quarter as well as the revenue growth of 11% from our first quarter.

"We continue to invest in the development of our browser managed integrated security platform, eMerge, and new features for our PowerKeyTM  line of industrial access control and mobile equipment management system products.

"These investments, while negatively impacting earning for the quarter and year-to-date, will allow us to address new and larger markets with innnovative and highly competitive integrated systems and technologies.

"We expect these investments will serve us well and will result in a stronger, more profitable company going forward." See http://www.ieib.com for the complete announcement.

BioReadTM 1000 Fingerprint Access System eliminates cards, PIN's or keys

IEI's latest access control reader is a finger-only biometric solution that is specifically designed for small stand-alone applications. The BioReadTM 1000 Fingerprint Access System allows authorized users access to high security areas by simply placing their finger on the scanner. The reader quickly verifies a match and entry is permitted.

Enrollment is simple because there is no software or PC needed. A low-cost hand-held programmer is used to quickly enroll users in a fraction of the time it takes for most biometric readers. The reader stores fingerprint templates of up to 90 users.

The BioRead 1000 reader can be installed to send a Wiegand signal for each successful fingerprint authentication, allowing connection to an IEI Secured Series HubMaxTM  II or MiniMaxTM  II controller for networked environments. For more information on the BioRead 1000, go to http://www.ieib.com.

eMerge creates a buzz at ISC West.
Latest software update expands capabilities.

IEI's browser managed security platform was a huge success at the International Security Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, as hundreds of security dealers sought to become qualified as an eMerge installer.

eMerge is an integrated security appliance providing embedded software and a browser interface. Some of the newest features of eMerge released in version 1.2 of the software include:

  • Expanded access control capacity with up to 140 readers per Network Controller; up from 64 readers on the previous version.
  • Elevator control for up to 14 elevators and 32 floor groups per Node.
  • Expanded event monitoring features including real time floor plans with interactive icons, alarm acknowledgement, video, and user photo pop-up on entry.
  • Data encryption on all messages passing between Network Nodes and the Network Controller using a SHA-1 digest for packet authentication and a 160-bit key. This makes it feasible to securely connect nodes over the public Internet without using a VPN connection.

For a complete list of version 1.2 features of eMerge, go to http://www.ieib.com.
